10 Walks 10 Weeks 10 Parishes – St Saviours was chosen as the parish to host the first WAG walk on Sunday 16th September. We started from the Community Centre and trekked around the reservoir in the sunshine.
Then back for tea and a special WAG cake thanks to Bryony “The Cake Lady”. The highlight of the afternoon was Milo – our canine patron – autographing a WAG walk certificate ready to be copied and presented to the dogs which completed all ten parish walks.
Over the next nine weeks we visited every parish – with dogs of all shapes and sizes joining in and friendships being forged among the owners. Many walkers said how much they had enjoyed finding new walks in different parts of the island.
On Sunday 18th November our last walk, in St Peter Port, took us around the grounds of Government House by kind permission of His Excellency Vice Admiral Sir Ian Corder and Lady Corder, and of course Milo.
Our Patron was very excited to welcome so many canine friends to his home. During tea he presented, with Sir Ian’s help, signed certificates to the 24 dogs and owners who had completed all the walks. Milo himself also received a personalised certificate as he too has enjoyed all the walks.
They were so successful we plan to repeat the ‘Ten Walks’ next Autumn – so watch this space.
